Our Buffalo are raised outside, naturally on grass pastures. We do not use any growth stimulates or antibiotics in our meat. Water buffalo meat is healthy and lean. This meat has the most nutrients and vitamins than all of the typical meats you find. It is also low in cholesterol and fat. We are proud to offer to you our Water Buffalo Meat and seasonal Dairy products: You can find us in Sunnyside, Queens and Union Square, Manhattan at the NYC Greenmarkets every Saturday.

Situated across the street from the Musconetcong River, Foley’s Riverine Ranch is a 62-acre water buffalo farm that produces milk, meat products, and artisan cheeses. In 2010, Brian and Courtney Foley purchased their farm in Asbury, NJ to raise water buffalo, which they believed to be a niche market worth investing in.
Riverine Ranch is located within the scenic Musconetcong River Valley. Situated on a preserved farm with panoramic views became the perfect place to start our dream. Our farm has been a working farm since the late 1800's and there was no way we were going to stop that. Although the farm has gone through many changes, one thing has remained constant. Animals grazing the land. In keeping with that tradition, we are doing the same. Never being conventional, we decided to raise water buffalo.
The Water Buffalo is a multipurpose animal. Having been domesticated for over 5,000 years, the buffalo have been used for draft, meat, and milk. Here at Riverine Ranch we utilize the milk and meat from our animals. We feel that the Water Buffalo can revitalize New Jersey's dairy industry. These animals are easy to work with due to their long lineage of domestication and are highly efficient at putting on muscle from grass and hay. The high butter-fat content in their milk makes silky, hearty cheeses; the species is most well known for being the source of milk for authentic Italian mozzarella cheese. Now, the Foley’s bring that authenticity to New Jersey.
